Introducing the Spirits and Citizens
In Richman Online, your fortunes are in the hands of the spirits! Depending on their moods, you can go from wild success to drastic failure – or just the opposite. By making wise use of your cards, you can curry favor with these whimsical spirits, and the result is that you’ll never play the same game twice! The powers of the spirits may even change depending on the mode you play, so be sure to try them all!
The Powers of Spirits and Citizens:
Spirit: Goldion
Goldion is the Spirit of Wealth, and with his aid, you’ll soon find your wallet growing fat with riches. If you meet him on your journey, he’ll let you randomly charge thousands from your opponents! In regular play, he’ll help foot the bill for your rent, so you don’t have to pay. In competitive play, he’ll halve the damage done to you. Amen, and pass the rebates!
Spirit: Benedict
Benedict is the Spirit of Good Fortune, and he’s looking to stack the deck in your favor! When you meet Benedict, he’ll hook you up with two randomly-chosen cards. In regular play, you can start a construction project for free on his land. When you summon him in competitive play, he’ll multiply the hurt you put on your opponents by 150%. It’s best to stay in his good graces!
Spirit: Pobre
Pobre is the Spirit of Poorness, and by the looks of it, even Spirits can find themselves at the mercy of Social Security’s shortcomings. When Pobre crosses your path, he’ll enact his “wealth re-distribution program,” causing you to pay thousands to every opponent immediately! In regular play, he’ll cause the rent to double (must be all that trouble with the housing market!), while in competitive mode, he’ll multiply the damage you take by 150%.
Spirit: Stormcrowe
Stormcrowe is the Spirit of Bad Luck, and no one wants to buddy up to this bringer of ill omen. If he catches sight of you, you’ll lose half of your cards! In regular play, he’ll cause you to lose your land and your construction projects to fail. In competitive play, he’ll halve the damage received by all your opponents!
Spirit: Lawn Gnome
Lawn Gnome is a Spirit of the Land who only appears in regular play. If you step on a space he occupies, he’ll grant you ownership of the land, as well as construction rights.
Spirit: Gadzooks
Gadzooks is the Spirit of Silliness, and he loves to screw around more than an office worker stuck in a cubicle ‘till 5. When Gadzooks makes his entrance, everything grinds to a halt - players can’t do anything, and Event Points won’t work. Except for the effects of properties already on the board, the only thing that you can do is keep paying your rent!
Spirit: Angela
Angela is a cherub sent to bring heavenly cheer. In regular play, she’ll help you add an extra floor to any of your construction projects, while in competitive play, she’ll give money to anyone within a 5x5 area for several turns.
Spirit: Damon
Damon is a real devil, and his favorite game is destruction! When he goes for a walk, you’d better watch out - he’ll topple a floor from the buildings of any land he strolls through! In competitive play, he’ll take away money from anyone within a 5x5 area for several turns.
Citizen: Tyke
No dog has cut classes in obedience school more than Tyke, and when he escapes from the yard, he’ll be hungry for a bite! All players except those in cars will be bitten and have to stay in the hospital for 3 days (after all, nobody wants to get rabies). In competitive play, being bitten means losing 20% of your cash.
Citizen: Hobo Joe
Poor Joe has fallen on hard times. His wife left him, he lost the mortgage on his house, and even his dog ran away! You’ll feel so sorry for his pitiful state that when you meet him, you’ll end up giving him half of your ticket-points!
Citizen: Max
Everybody loves a clown, and you’ll love Max too, when he blows through town taking all game-board obstructions and Citizen characters with him. It’s one show you won’t want to miss!
Citizen: Mafioso
Serious business is goin’ down, y’hear? When the Mafioso man is in town, all the stores and banks will close for three days. Hope you’ve made all the transactions you need!
Citizen: Ice-Ice Baby
Ice-Ice Baby wants to chill with you! Unfortunately for you, that means you’ll be frozen for two rounds, and can’t move. Don’t worry – you’ll still be able to buy stocks, though.
Citizen: Ghostface
Toss on an old sheet and cavort with Ghostface! When he appears, you’ll move randomly for the next five turns. Who knows; you might end up somewhere spook-tacular.
Citizen: Landlady
The fate of your rent lies with the Landlady! She’ll increase your Price Index by +1.
Citizen: Treasure Chest
Ahoy mateys! Whoever picks up the treasure chest will earn 200 ticket points!
Citizen: Commando
The Commando is out there, and he’s waging urban warfare! He’ll pop up without warning, punch you in the face, then randomly place six land mines on the map. Any player unlucky enough to be on those spaces when the timer runs out will be blown sky-high!
Citizen: E.G. Fu-Young
Chef Young is known as the “God of Cooks,” and he wants you to try his latest delight! Not only will meeting him net you $2000, he’ll leave three delicious cakes on the map at random. First come, first served!
